I received my BA in secondary education from the University of New Orleans in 1997 and immediately began teaching at an inner-city school near the French Quarter. I moved out west to teach on the Navajo Reservation in 1999 and lived at the boarding school for the next 2 years.
I moved back to Florida after realizing that I am not a desert person and that I truly missed the beaches of my youth. I taught for Broward County for 2 years before leaving the public school system to work with students with dyslexia while pursuing my Master’s degree in education from the University of Phoenix. I received that degree in 2007 and then went to work at G-Star School for the Performing Arts.
My teaching experience includes most subjects within the social studies field such as: Psychology, IB Psychology, World History (honors and Pre-IB), Geography, and Law Studies.
I have always loved the ocean and the life within it and look forward to finding many ways to challenge my students while incorporating as much as I can about the sea and our history with it.
