Marine Service Technology Instructor

Hello, I am Jonathan Rice. I was born in San Bernardino California and lived there for eleven years. My family then moved to Orlando Florida where I attended middle and high school. I have been in Palm Beach County for the last six years. I grew up going fishing and hunting with my father and brother. I do not hunt any more, but love to go fishing and diving every free moment that I get. I Love The Ocean!!!

I graduated from University High School in 1988 went on to community college. I found that it just wasn't for me. A year or so later I found a school called Marine Mechanics Institute where I learned all about marine engines and how to service and maintain them. I went to school for 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 14 months. I only missed 1 day of school and graduated with 98%. It is amazing how easy it is to apply yourself when you find the career you love. From there I worked at a dealership in Orlando for two years, then moved down here to paradise and worked at the local Grady White dealership, Mariner Marine, for five years. I then went on to run my own mobile marine business for about a year and a half. Out of the blue an old customer of mine from Mariner Marine, Commander Hirshberg, called and said the school he was teaching at needed a Marine Service teacher. I applied and have been working here and loving it ever since!
